Five Years In Five Minutes

Five Years in Five Minutes

Derick and I celebrated five years of marriage last month and here is a rundown of things I have learned:

Love does grow deeper with time, even with a more developed understanding of a spouse's idiosyncrasies and personal hygeine.

It is alright to go to bed mad, because sometimes you are just tired.

Which, leads me to... Never pick an obvious fight when you are running on three hours of sleep, that were spent at the edge of a child's bed, with the smell of vomit lingering on your shirt.

It is alright to eat dessert before dinner, because dinner might collapse into chaos, then complete anarchy, and you may never get to dessert.

Somehow in a family, with all the craziness, I have been able to accomplish things I could not even wrap my head around as a single person.

I really did marry superman and a good mechanic.

I am sure I learned more, but Ian is climbing on the table....

Here's to another five!

What was it that Nancy Reagan said???

Just Say No...

I don't think that word is in my vocabulary.

I had told a friend I would do her hair for her wedding on Saturday.

Then Rachel called and asked if the kids could spend the night so she could be part of a program at Church on Saturday morning.

I could handle it...no problem.

Then Ian and Noah got nasty colds.

I didn't say they could, but they did anyway.

In the end, everything went all right.

The kids played outside most of the time. Derick showed them how to drive the tractor until it ran out of gas. We made crepes for breakfast with strawberries and cream. Derick's parents came up and ran interference. Ariana did a few heads of hair.

On Monday, we all went to the doctor.

Antibiotics for everyone...hooray!

noah lately

The Brute is going on 5 months and 18 lbs.
He giggles, chatters, rolls, and wiggles all the time.
And one of these days, he is going to be big enough to retaliate when Ian sits on his face...
mom is just going to look the other way.

a new year...

We have been to the library during Wee Read time for other reasons and Ian stands at the door with his nose pressed against the glass. So today, we got up early (for us anyway), washed, dressed, and arrived early. As the other children came in greeting each other and pulling out the toys, Ian suddenly got very shy and wouldn't budge from my leg. Then as the librarian started to read, Noah filled his diaper, quite loudly. Long story short--I had to clean poo out of Noah's hair. In the end, we returned to the reading room with Noah in just his diaper and Ian warmed up enough to share his truck with another little boy. Luckily I keep an extra, extra outfit in my purse. Same time next week.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Let It Snow...

Granny, you may have the sunshine, but try building a snowman with it!
